Weston Ridge, Otley.

Weston Ridge, Otley, was a site acquired from Leeds City Council by Lovell to develop their for sale products. What initially appeared to be a straightforward site proved to be a challenge throughout the site purchase and planning application process. Watson Batty Architects explored options to overcome site constraints such as the retention of existing trees, access to the rear gardens of existing houses, and access through to the community facilities.

We also needed to demonstrate that the development densities were not too high for the character of the area and vary the storey heights to improve massing relationships between existing and proposed. Pennine Housing 2000 subsequently took on the block of 3 storey apartments to satisfy the affordable housing criteria.
