Pupils get on board at Woodhouse Grove.

The prestigious new accommodation facility at Woodhouse Grove School in Leeds has now opened its doors to the pupils and teachers who are to become the first residents of The Brodwell Boarding House.

Designed by Watson Batty architects, the £1.2 million project will provide modern and comfortable accommodation for pupils and teachers throughout the school term. The two-storey building comprises 22 twin en-suite study bedrooms, communal lounge and kitchen areas and games room, in addition to separate living quarters for the boarding staff. The older, existing accommodation building is to be converted into a new classroom block.

The new boarding facility, which has been dedicated to the memory of former pupil and school governor John Brodwell, is the latest stage in the school’s ongoing redevelopment and expansion plan. Brodwell House is also the sixth project to be designed by Watson Batty for Woodhouse Grove following the successful completion of various projects over the last four years including, most recently, a new sports and performing arts centre in 2005.
