Watson Batty checks in for luxury hotel developments.
Twenty one may be the traditional age to receive the key to the door but for Guiseley based architects Watson Batty, it was the company’s 30th birthday that marked Councillor John Bale’s official opening of the practice’s new, purpose built eco-friendly offices.
The company’s move to the recently completed office development follows a period of substantial growth and by housing the full 100-strong workforce, the new building enables the practice’s architectural and surveying services to operate under one roof. The new three-storey building, located at the rear of the Guiseley Retail Park also combines cutting edge design with an array of sustainable features including an eco-friendly geothermal heating and cooling system, which Watson Batty is amongst the first to install in the Yorkshire area. A recovery system is also in place, which collects rainwater to flush the office’s toilet facilities in order to significantly reduce freshwater consumption.
In addition to the use of recyclable construction materials and the extensive use of natural light and ventilation, the new offices also benefit from its close proximity to local public transport links and are just a few minutes walk away from Guiseley’s rail station and bus stops.
Watson Batty Director Frank McAleer says; “The completion of our state of the art offices is an important milestone in Watson Batty’s thirty year history and the new facilities will no doubt provide an excellent environment to nurture the company’s future growth and development. We were based at our previous offices in the town for over twenty five years and so are delighted that we have been able to maintain our presence and investment in Guiseley by moving just a few yards down the road.”
In addition to the new offices, Watson Batty has also designed a small development of two-bedroom flats to the rear of the site, adjacent to the existing residential properties next to the local bowling green.
