The latest tourist attraction in Guiseley?

Since the doors of Watson Batty’s new state of the art office officially opened back in November last year, there have been plenty of visitors queuing up to take a look at building’s innovative sustainable design features. The latest sightseers to sign the guest book were some of the members of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).

Local Guiseley Councillor John Bale, who official opened the new facility, suggested the visit to the RSA, which is currently running a special programme of lectures looking at a range of projects that aim to address various social and ethical problems through innovative design. After taking a tour of the facilities, the RSA members had the opportunity to find out more about the building’s many different environmental design features such as the state of the art geothermal heating system.

Such was the success of the RSA’s visit that the Watson Batty team have already received their next ‘booking’ and will be meeting up with the students from Leeds Metropolitan University’s School of the Built Environment in the next few weeks.
