Leeds Grammar School begins to take shape.
Rose Court nursery in Headingley has become the first project to be completed as part of the new Grammar School at Leeds project, which sees the merger of two of the city’s most prestigious educational facilities - Leeds Grammar School and Leeds Girls High School.
Located on the site of the former junior school Ford House, the existing Victorian building has been redesigned to accommodate the nursery pupils and staff. The new facility sympathetically incorporates the Victorian caretaker’s house and former stables, whilst also enabling the school to increase its intake of nursery pupils.
The residents of Ford House junior school are also getting closer to moving into their new building as work gets underway at the new site in Alwoodley. The existing facilities at Alwoodley Gates are being extended to accommodate a new junior school and sixth form in addition to new classrooms, science, technology, IT, music facilities, two theatres, a new sports hall with changing facilities and state of the art all weather sports pitches. Work is expected to be complete in time for the new Grammar School at Leeds to officially open in September 2008.
