Ashville College, Harrogate.
Ashville College in Harrogate has planning approval for its campus master plan. Watson Batty has worked closely with the college and a team of professional consultants over the last 18 months to realise the vision and aspirations of the college.
The college campus has developed piecemeal over the last 127 years, creating a series of disparate buildings, pedestrian routes shared with vehicles and a site with a number of health and safety concerns. The college’s paramount objective is to create a safer environment for students, staff, parents and visitors. The planning approval is the first step towards the college achieving its goals.
Headmaster Andrew Fleck said he was delighted with the councillor’s decision. “Children’s safety was at the core of this application and I’m delighted the councillors recognised this.”
The master plan has turned the college round by redefining new entrances, providing dedicated parking, bus turning and pick up and drop off areas, creating new social spaces and the development of two state of the art all weather sports pitches.
This is a milestone in the history of the college and now paves the way for an exciting future where the college can build on their exceptional reputation.
